Marleau Nixed Ottawa Move

Update@10pm- Sharks GM Doug Wilson says Marleau wasn't asked to waive his no trade.

Yep that's right. According to TSN's James Duthie, recently stripped San Jose captain Patrick Marleau refused to waive his no trade clause to come to Ottawa.

That's fine with me. We don't want you anyways. Last thing we need is another soft, underachieving forward. So thanks but no thanks Patrick.

Though good to know Murray is still at least talking deals, though it's also clear that the deals out there are pretty weak at the moment. Heatley can't come back and we all know it.

Marleau is not what we need and BM would probably want much more, i.e. prospects if he were to come. My own experience from many years in a work environment is usually your best employees are the ones who really want to be there.

CYA Dany, hopefully you can take your crate of baggage and unload it somewhere else, preferably in an American city like Nashville that doesn't give a crap about hockey.

I think Marleau was going to go to a third team, but nixed that deal so the Sens and Sharks couldn't make their deal because San Jose didn't have the cap room. Not positive, but I think it was a three-way deal.
