No Hollywood Ending For Dany

“Do I want to bring in a Dany Heatley with all that baggage? It might work,” Lombardi said in a report on the Los Angeles Times website last night. “But I don’t think we’re in a position where we can afford that ... Maybe a change of environment and he grows up. But my point is, do we need to take that risk right now? It scares me." - Kings GM Dean Lombardi

And that pretty much sums most GM's feelings around the league I'm sure. Ya it could benefit us but why take the chance on a selfish guy with a history of problems. It's not worth it to them.

So there ya go, Dany will not be going to LA. One more team off the list who isn't interested. Dany says he wants options but I think the only one he has is coming back here at the moment.

I really don't care why Dany boy wants to leave. He wants a bigger role - that's a good trait, but if he's not playing well, or the coaches have a different way to use him or want to promote some other player's efforts, it's up to them how to best use him. Ottawa gave him a new life when he wanted to move on, I'm sooo disappointed in him as a person - we signed the biggest contract in our history, and he wants to back out of it? What a poor example to set for our kids and the young players coming up, huh? I don't care if he's not getting along with another player or that someone may have been a little to close to someone as the rumour-mill has suggested. He's a 7.5 million dollar property - shut up and put up. And if any other team out there doesn't think that he'll pull the same stuff on them if he's looked at sideways, they're only fooling themselves. Let's just call him Dany-prima-donna.
