Easy As 1-2-3

The Sens made it 3 wins in a row last night, after dropping the Atlanta Thrashers 4-2 (as I luckily predicted in my GDP) in front of a sellout Thanksgiving crowd. I know most of you didn't get to see it, as it wasn't on TV, but you actually missed a pretty decent game. And is it just me or was the crowd really into it? Good to see the nice atmosphere at SBP.

Alexei Kovalev got the scoring underway, notching his first as a Senator, with other goals by Ruutu, Fisher and Neil. Great to see that we are capable of winning without our goals having to come from Alfie or Spezza (who has been noticeably quiet lately).

Brian Elliott was solid in goal, stopping 26 of 28 for his first win of the season. The defence was decent but not spectacular, playing a third game in a row without Kuba. Volchenkov seems back to his hard hitting ways, laying someone out for the third straight game. Special shoutout to Chris Phillips who jumped in right away when Alfie was rocked with a big hit. No one hits the Legend and gets away with it anymore, Big Rig made sure of it. Also, I have to say that I'm loving Matt Carkner. He plays his role, doesn't do anything fancy, plays hard and appreciates being in the show. Plus he has actually played pretty well. Picard on the other hand...........

The Sens now sit in 1st place all alone in the Northeast division, taking 6 of a possible 8 points. We will have a big test tomorrow, when the champs come to town for a Thanksgiving treat.

Those of you who saw it, what did you think of the game? What are your thoughts on the season so far?

i think the sens are proving how we were underrated by everyone coming into this. And I know its early days but I think this is more indicative of the team we are going to be.

Word of caution...don't get too giddy yet, they haven't played any contenders yet. But here's hoping they prove our optimism right.

Points now are as valuable as the ones in March and April. Good on the team to pick up valuable points while they can

I agree not to get too giddy yet but you can only beat the teams that you have to play
