GDP #3: Home Opener V Long Island

The Home Opener for the Sens has finally arrive. If you're like me, you've been waiting all week and better yet, all offseason for this night. The Sens are coming a big win in Toronto on Tuesday, in possibly one of the most boring games I've seen, but 2 points is 2 points. (sorry for the hockey player speak).

Which brings us to tonight's game against Long Island and Johnny T's regular season debut in Canada. I gotta give a minor penalty to the way the media has been hyping this up. Despite me hating Sydney Crosby, he was a pehnom, Johnny T is not in is level of skill or popularity for that matter. Put it this way, how many Tavares jerseys did you see this summer? None? One? Two? When Crosby came into the league, they were everywhere. Just calm down a little bit on the hype of Tavares' first game in Canada, honestly I don't think many people care about that aspect of it.

Look for basically the same lineup as Tuesday, because Ryan Shannon and Filip Kuba remain injured and will not play. Jason Spezza left practice early yesterday but will be good to go for the game. Fan favorite Jarkko Ruutu will play in his 500th career game tonight, so congratulations. In net, Pascal Leclaire will make his 3rd consecutive start. For the Isles, 18 year vet Doug Weight will make his season debut and Robbie Shremp will make his Islanders debut, after being claimed off waivers last week from Edmonton. No word on who will start in net for L.I. yet. The game is at 7pm and is on Sportsnet and the Team 1200.

Predictions: Sens win 6-2
