I don't mind his play whatsoever. He is getting assists and on a 5 game assist streak. As long as he provides chemistry with Michalek and continues his strong all around play I am happy. He is proving to finally be a strong all around player and I prefer that over a one trick kind of player.

I think Spezza has to make a greater contribution. I do not think he is now a great all around player, he is just not as bad as he used to be. More disappointing I think is the play of Kovalev; looking at his stats you would think he played for the Leafs. Watching him play you would think that could barely skate.
Agreed, he is playing a better 2 way game but he's just being better, not great.
His real value to the team is scoring and he isnt doing it yet.
Im sure he will pick it up soon but it is a bit alarming no goals in 9 games
