GDP #19: Sens V Pens

The Sens and Pens renew the battle tonight at SBP, with the Sens eager to prove they are for real and the Pens looking to show they are still the champs. It will be a real test for us, we need a bonafide win against a legit team.

Unfortunately for the Sens, they are catching the Pens at almost full strength. Conn Smythe MVP Evgeni Malkin returned to the lineup on Saturday, and Sergei Gonchar and Max Talbot will return to the team tonight. Lucky for them, unlucky for us. Of course when playing Pittsburgh, the players to focus on are Jordan Staal, Sidney Crosby, Evgeni Malkin, Bill Guerin, Chris Kunitz and Sergei Gonchar. If you can keep most of those guys in check, then you will give yourself an opportunity to get the win.

For the Sens, there will be no changes tonight, which means Regin and Shannon continue to be healthy scracthes, while Donovan gets to suit up again. I am definitely in favor of this. Look for Jason Spezza to have a big game tonight, as he always lights it up against the Pens. In his last 16 games vs Pittsburgh, Spezza has 10 goals and 17 helpers.

As for who starts in net, Pascal Leclaire gets the nod, coming off a very strong 3rd period against Toronto on Tuesday. Let's hope he has another great effort in him and helps us to back to back wins.

Prediction: I think the Sens need this game to show they can beat a good team and not just Atlanta or Tampa. I expect a big effort tonight and for them to play a tough, hard fought game. The Sens take it 4-2 in an intense affair.

Game is at 7:30pm on TSN and The Team 1200.

Thoughts?

If they are not going to play Regin maybe they should send him to Bingo to get some more ice time. He has shown some potential so far this year.
On an unrelated note, wasn't Winchester originally going to play with Spezza and that other guy when he first made the Sens.
