GDP #24: Sens @ Boston

The Sens and Bruins tangle tonight in Boston at the TD Banknorth Garden, in a first place showdown at 7pm. I'm sure we're all aware of the difficulties we tend to have with the B's sometimes, esepcially with netminder Tim Thomas. I was hoping he wouldn't be playing after missing the past 6 games, but he loves to feast on us and the reigning Vezina trophy winner is expected to start tonight.

For the Sens, there is some good news, as Mike Fisher will return to the lineup tonight. We can definitely use his scoring touch and hard work. When Fish is playing, it also allows us to have two scoring lines, which is huge for us. Unfortunately, Volchenkov is not ready to return quite yet. So in his place, Erik Karlsson will play, in a very weird move that sens Brian Lee back to the AHL. Let's hope BM knows what he's doing.

Prediction: The Bruins and especially Tim Thomas seem to own the Sens, but all things end at somepoint. Whoever wins this game will be leading the division and I think the Sens will want to show Boston early that they aren't the same team they used to be. Sens win a close one, 3-2.

Thoughts?

should be a tough game tonight, how do you think we'll do mayor?

This post is about how he thinks we will do.

Look for the Kelly Cheechoo combo to take at least 3 minor penalties.

i wish we could get rid of the salaries of kelly and cheechoo and use the money for an upgrade on defence

Through the first half of the game Alfy, Phillips and Elliot have been the only good Sens and it looks like we might be blown out.

My thoughts on the game:
The Sens were extremely lucky to get a point out of this. It was a terrible, and disgusting effort by the Sens. They showed a considerable lack of team speed getting beat to nearly every loose puck, and a little heart in losing almost every puck battle. Up and down the lineup it looked like they were waiting for someone else to do the work for them, they also were constantly just throwing the puck all over the ice. I bet on their last 3 powerplays the Sens possessed the puck in the Bruins end for maybe 25 seconds out 360 seconds. Boston probably out- chanced them by a 8-1 ratio. Besides Alfy, Michalek and Elliot I would not say anyone else had good games. Picard getting beat back to the puck creating a chance for Boston on the last powerplay was indicative of our whole night. It is said time and again but people that are payed millions of dollars to play hockey should show some pride in their work. The Sens deserved to lose by at lest 4 tonight. I really hope CCC should bag skate them, they Senator's players cannot think they can coast through games, be as lazy as they want and get away with it. It has to be clear that they need to work, one way or another. What do you think Mr. Mayor, was that game as bad as I think it was?
