What is it with us and the Boston Bruins? Apparently when we play them, no lead is safe. It's just frustrating to start off so stong and just throw it all away with such poor play. The B's scored all 3 goals on the PP, you'd think we'd learn our lesson by now. Honestly I'm just mad at the moment. You'd think with the division lead on the line, they wouldn't roll over like they did. Ya they got lucky and came back to get a point, but they still didn't play well at all. So I guess it's another day, another 4-3 shootout loss to the B's.Other thoughts on the game:
-Why does Spezza play on the PK? I'm nervous with him out there 5 on 5, let alone a man down.
-Wanna know why I hate Picard? Because for the 2nd straight game he missed an open net.
-Karlsson didn't impress at all.
-Will we ever beat Boston in Boston again? It's now 6 loses in a row. They own us.
-Where was the heart tonight?
-Fisher played about as well as he did on Thrusday
-How can we be so bad continuously at shooutouts?
-LOVE Michalek, Danny Who?
I suppose in the end, at least we got a point and things could have been worse. Just depends what way you want to look at it. Thoughts?

Yes I love Michalek too. I'd lay off Fish though. I heard he was about 85 %. Did you notice that he was not crowding the net at all as he usually does. I think he was not 100 % and was in the lineup so at least the top two lines did not have to be compromised, especially with Neil out as well. I thought #9 and #11 played very well the first period. However that 2nd power play goal was like a 5 on 3 so that was a gift. I agree with you on the too many penalties. The defense was way too sloppy. And finally, like you said at least we grabbed a point out of it.
The Sens were lucky not to lose by 4 goals. We were probably outchanced by a 8 or 9 to 1 margin.
The Sens showed a real lack of team speed in being beaten to every lose puck and struggling to keep up with the play.
To many turnovers when players were to lazy to do something constructive with the puck. The Sens also showed a real lack of heart and lost pretty much every puck battle.
You would think that with 3 minutes left, down 1 goal they might have some urgency on the power play, but the lackadaisical attitude continued. In fact I would be surprised if the Sens had a minute with the puck in the Bruins end on all their power plays combined.
The lack of effort was really disgusting and does not bode well for the future of this team. I think CCC has to bag skate them, because they cannot get away with being that lazy.
I think the Sens need another spark plug that can skate, be it one defense, offense, it does not matter. Also, Cheechoo and Picard have to go, they just do not help the Sens.
In other words Mr. Mayor, glass half empty.
Hopefully Clouston tears the Sens to shreds over that one, we can say at least they got a point but if the team takes that attitude after a game like tonight's I would expect we will soon be closer to Toronto then Boston.
The one good thing is that for the first time in a long time goaltending is a non-issue for the Sens. Elliot looked great tonight, making big saves and doing an fantastic job of holding on to rebounds. Leclaire has also shown that he can be excellent if he avoids bad goals and Sens draft pick Rob Leighner won CHL goalie of the week.
Things could have gone worse but the Sens could not have played much worse.
BM should try to get rid of Picard before his stats start to reflect his terrible play.
For example tonight, he constantly throws the puck away, he missed another empty net, and he got beat back to his own end, even with a large head start, and then forced off the puck to allow Boston a great shorthanded scoring chance. But he ends up with a plus and an assist.
Agreed, pretty much everyone was terrible except for Alfy, Elliot and Michalek. Most of them showed a complete lack of heart.
However, I think players like Shannon and Regin were trying to hard. They were racing all over the ice and kept overplaying the puck. For the rest of the Sens they just kept taking the easy way every time.
The Sens played a good minute tonight. I cannot completely buy into the Sens as a playoff team until they do what Boston did tonight and put in a complete 60 minute effort. I don't mean a game like the Tampa blowout or the Pittsburgh game, I want to see the Sens maintain their effort and composure for 60 minutes in a competitive game. If they can do that I think they can be much better than they have showed so far.
YO the Mayor !! I tought Karlsson play a decent game , he looks stronger and he was not affraid to skate by chara !! And by the way , Picard is way better than what you think , hes the most offensive skilled Dman on this team he just need to refind his confidence but with the fans in ottawa it's gonna be tough for him !! He has just play 2 bad games , yes he was terrible in thos games but i don't think Capoli has done a better Job and Blondie Lee Suck Big time man !!
I dont think campoli is much better then Picard but at least he doesnt make the clear brutal plays picard does. Every single game there are 2 or 3 plays that he does that i just dont get. Plus he keeps missing open nets.
Picard is putting up points but at the expense of defensive play. Saying he's scoring isnt the whole picture. He's brutal and i cant wait for him to be gone
Picard is crap, he is not only bad defensively, but he cannot skate and he does not put enough effort into his defensive play.
Mr. Mayor, what do you think of the NHL not suspending Colby Armstrong. Personally I think it is bullshit and it shows they are not concerned about the health of their players. The one thing that everyone keeps saying is that their is a lack of respect of opponents in the NHL, and Armstrong clearly does not have any respect for the other players on the ice. He head hunts, he tries to hurt people, he has injured more players over the last few years than any other player, all from blindside headshots. By not suspending this guy the NHL is saying that those hits are OK and it is OK to headhunt, they are obviously not seriously concerned about blindside headshots like they said they were.
