I've Got Good News & I've Got Bad News

What kind of person are you, more of a good news first or bad news first? It's two different school's of thought isn't it. I know everyone is different but I'd rather hear the bad news first and get it over with, then end on a positive note to feel a bit better about everything.

I said that to say this. There's some good news and some bad news today. The bad news is up first. Jason Spezza, who has missed the past 2 games, both loses, will be out at least another week with a back injury. This is a very frustrating type of injury, as nothing but rest will really help it. It's especially common in taller players like Jason.

There is some light at the end of the tunnel however, as Anton Volchenkov may be back sooner then expected. He was hurt in the 3rd against Florida last Wednesday with an elbow injury and was originally going to be gone possibly a month. Well now the belief around the Sens camp is he will be back in 10 days, which is good news. We're a much better team with the A-Train in the lienup.

Wanna send out wishes of a speedy recovery to both guys. They are both keys to our team and we need them back as soon as possible. It's true, you don't really know what you got til it's gone, Joni Mitchell style.

Who do you think we miss more, the A-Train on the backend or Spezza's playmaking ability?

Absolutely the team misses Volchenkov more. There just aren't enough solid Top 4 D-Men on the roster. Spezza is actually having a great year (people just looking at goals are missing the point) but with the Sens forward depth, it's easier to compensate. Scoring goals hasn't been a problem for the team, aside from Brick Walls like Pavelec stopping 50 shots.
