GDP #40: Sens V Nordiques

The Sens play their 2nd last game of 2009 tonight, as they take on the Quebec Nordiques, I mean Colorado Avalanche, in a rare matchup. Am I the only one who wishes they would wear these as throwbacks? That is one stylish uniform, haute couture at its hockey's best.

The Avs are leading the Northwest division and are a surprise 22-12-6 this season, boasting a bunch of solid rookie talent and of course the league wide, surprisingly amazing, Craig Anderson. For the Sens, Nick Foligno returns to the lineup with no other changes. Can the Sens make it 3 in a row without Spezza and Alfie? Pascal Leclaire gets the start, coming off an All Star like performance against the Habs on Monday.

Prediction: I'm not gonna lie, I rarely watch Colorado games and the Sens still are missing a ton of talent. For some reason, I could see a goaltender duel, given the way these 2 have been playing lately, but I'm gonna go the other way and call a shootout kinda game. Sens make it 3 in a row and win 5-4 in a shootout. Look for Fisher and Kovalev to have big games.

Thoughts?
