The Sens are back at it tonight, trying to start a new win streak, as they take on our fellow Canadian squad, the Calgary Flames. The Flames have been struggling as of late, hence the departures of Dion Phaneuf and Olli Jokinen last week. In return, they got a mix back of average level talent, so if at time you think you're watching the Maple Leafs, don't check you eyes, the Flames now have many of them in their lineup. This is a rare game between the 2 Canadian clubs and features the best 2 captains in the NHL, in Daniel Alfredsson and Jarome Iginla. Poor Iggy, always stuck playing with no one his whole career. The Flames also have Jay Bouwmeester, Robin Reger and one of the league's best goalies in Miikka Kiprusoff, so it should be a good challenge for us.
On the Sens tip, no lineup changes from the masscare that was Saturday night, so let's just hope it was an exception and we get back on track tonight. Jonathan Cheechoo will be playing in his 500th career game tonight, hopefully he scores but doubtful. After some speculation, Brian Elliott wil get the start again. I think that's the right call, he's earned another start.
With the win tonight and a Sabres loss to the Bruins, we can take over the lead in the division, so it's a big game for us in many ways. Picard remains in the lineup, with Karlsson unready to return yet.
Prediction: The Sens need this win to get back on track, as we don't want to start a losing streak. After our last game, we need a big showing to get us the 2 points and possibly take the division lead and put the pressure on the Sabres. The Flames are a team in turmoil and a bit of an enigma, so you don't know what team you're going to get exactly. I say the Sens get it back on track and win 4-1.
Thoughts?
