In a somewhat surprising move, the Ottawa Senators announced today that they had resigned blueliner Brian Lee to a 2 year contract extension. Lee, who is 23, was set to be a free agent on July 1st. It had appeared he had fallen out of favor with the organization after failing to live up to expectations of being picked 9th overall in the draft, and spending most of this season in the minors. While not being overly impressed with Lee, I thought that perhaps he was better then he was given credit for and deserved to play in the NHL. I am happy with the signing. No word yet on the dollar amount or if it's a 1 or 2 way deal. One would assume it's a way 1 way deal or he wouldn't have signed so early.
Happy to see him back in the fold or hoping he would have been traded in the offseason?
