New Pads For Snoopy?

From this picture, it sure looks like Pascal Leclaire has ditched the old barberpole pads in favor of all red ones. Even his blocker and traper are all red now too. I have to say I find these to be hideous and I hope he is just wearing them for some ceremonial/promotional reason or something.

This is of course, a HUGE year for Leclaire, who needs to prove he is a full time, bonafide #1 starter in the NHL, or he could be finding himself at a career crossroad. Let's hope for the Sens sake that he plays well and gets different pads. I don't know if I can take a year of looking at these eye soars.

This was apparently taken at some hockey camp recently, which if you look closely, also features an un-signed Bobby Ryan in the background. An assist goes out to John G for sending this in.

Thoughts on the new gear?

The barber-pole pattern makes the pads look too small/thin though... they don't intimidate the opposing shooters. It's a problem similar to the one MA Fleury had a couple of years back with his yellow ones. In Fleury's case, they just made a more visible target.

I don't mind the red pads although white ones remain the most effective at providing a subliminal edge.
