Sens Lose An Expert

Though it comes as no surprise, Andy Sutton is now an ex-Sen, after agreeing to terms on a 2 year deal with the Anaheim Ducks, worth 4.25 million total, a substantial decrease from the 3.5 million he made last season.

Though his time in Ottawa was short, it was memorable. He will go down in Senators lore for this ridiculously amazing hit on Leopold in our first round series with Pittsburgh and then more comically this, that will forever make me laugh. I assume I'm not the only one. I'm sure the are you an expert line will be heard at SBP for years to come.

With the departure, we are now perhaps less tough on the backend, but definitely more mobile, though I'd be lying if part of me didn't think he was worth keeping for what he signed for. A player of that size, who blocks shots and instills fear in the other team that at any moment a massive hit might be coming is pretty valuable, then again, I guess they think Carkner can replace him for the league min.

Thoughts?

Is Willie Mitchell done? If he is going to play next year maybe he could be a cheap pickup to shore up the defense.

Agreed it is ALWAYS funny to me too.

I actually heard Willie Mitchell has recovered from his problems and is good to go for this season but i dont see us adding him.

For the price he would want im sure we could have kept Sutton.
