He becomes the 75th player in NHL history to hit 1000 career points. Of course, he did it in style, scoring a hat trick. I even called the way he would hit 1000 with 5 minutes of game time left. Simply put, he is the franchise and a legend.

Congratulations to Alfie on the major accomplishment and for coming up huge when we needed the W. You can always count on the captain.

As selfish as it may be, I'm almost disappointed that it happened last night. I'll be at tonight's game (with about a dozen coworkers who are Habs fans), and also Tuesday's game against Phoenix. I wish I could have seen #1000 in person, but I'll happily settle for 1001.
