Smith Down, Hale Up

So healthy scratch Zack Smith was sent to Binghamton today, and David Hale was re-called to the big club. Wow, what a big move, we should be a dominant team now, after adding the NHL vet who couldn't crack our awful defensive lineup from camp. I just don't see this doing much for us at all.

I'm not sure why Zack was on such a short leash either, which now means Winchester and Shannon are here to stay for the considerable future, which I'm not in favor of.

Bryan Murray also said he is ready to deal at a media scrum and is apparently talking to Minnesota about a possible trade, amongst others.

What do you think about the promotion/demotion made today? Who would you like to see moved and for what? And please try and be realistic, we don't need any Lee for Crosby proposals.

How about Lee for second round pick. It'd be nice to have one of those.

No way Lee brings in a 2nd rounder, more like 5th

Purely a guess but I almost posted this move on the Ottawa Sun comment page yesterday but held back. My feelings were that the Sens would only make a cap related move which meant that Smith and his 2 way contract would be the odd man out. Barring a trade, if Winchester can't play expect to see Campoli play forward.

why Zack Smith was sent down I have no idea maybe they thinkc it is better for his development, and in regards to a trade to minnesotac i have no idea who would be leaving or coming. BRING BACK CULLEN (im aware it wouldnt happen with our cap space)

A bag of pucks if we're lucky.

If it's to Minnesota, how about trying to pry James Sheppard off their hands? He hasn't turned into the scorer yet they'd hoped for and is currently injured, so maybe his value will be lessened. Some combo of Lee and a pick might get him.

How about a goalie from Minnesota? No?

leclaire was doing a great job b4 his injury they will see how he does once he gets back b4 trading for a goalie, and they prob wont with salary cap issues and the fact that no1 will want leclaire atm. While im on the subject of injuries has anyone gotten an update on the status of leclaire and kuba?

It makes perfect sense why smith was sent down (and it has nothing to do with his play). He is on a 2-way and we needed to send someone down to change our defense. Despite your cynicism Mr. Mayor, clearly the defense we chose out of camp is failing and so we need to try an alternate approach. Moreover, I know your sarcastic post suggests that this will accomplish nothing, but realistically what should a GM do after losing four games? trade the top two lines?

Its not time to panic, its time to be logical and patient about this, it will turn around.

pff the Pens should practically be begging us to take Crosby of their hands for Lee. they'd probably even throw in Malkin while they're at it! (kidding of course)

i want something legit, but i'd take a big of pucks to get rid of Lee.
