The Ottawa Senators take on the much improved Atlanta Thrashers tonight at SBP, looking to win their 4th in a row. They will have re-enforcements in the fold, as Milan Michalek returns for injury to take a place on a line with Alfie and Mike Fisher. To my surprise, the Regin-Spezza-Kovalev will remain intact and will hopefully continue to produce. I have been enjoying that line and feel we now have 2 legit lines to play. Brian Elliott will continue to get the call and will start again.
The Thrashers, who for many years have been somewhat of a joke the past few years, have finally started to show some promise, and are fufilling their potential, with 15 points so far this season in 14 games, same as the Senators. Players to watch on Atlanta include Dustin Bufyglien, Evander Cane and Nik Antropov.
Local Flavour: The Thrashers have Ottawa native Ben Eager in their lineup, as well as Masena, New York native Zack Bogosian, who grew up as a Sens fan.
Prediction: This is what you call a classic trap game, with the Sens possibly looking ahead to the big match up with Vancouver on Thursday. The problem with the Senators is they usually play up to their competition level, and they often don't find the motivation to play hard against teams like Atlanta. Having said that, we are on a roll and we welcome back Michalek tonight, which can only help our overall depth. taking into consideration the play of Brian Elliott as of late, and our 3 game win streak, Sens continue to roll and take it 5-3.
