GDP #17: Senators @ Boston

The Senators are in Boston tonight, taking on the Bruins, hoping to rebound from a very poor performance against Vancouver on Thursday. The team did start out well for the first half of the game, before succumbing to the Canuck attack, losing 6-2. It was a tale of 2 games, as we were thoroughly outclassed and outworked in the 3rd. Tonight we are looking to get back on track.

The Sens lineup will have a big lift tonight, as Filip Kuba will finally play, he will be partnered with Erik Karlsson. That means that David Hale will be a healthy scratch. In goal, the Pascal Leclaire experiment appears to be over after 1 game, as Brian Elliott is expected to start. Speaking of Elliott, both he and Matt Carkner will play in their 100th career game tonight.

For the B's, you can bet that Sen killer Tim Thomas will be in goal. He has owned us the past few seasons to an insane degree. Let's hope we break that trend tonight, though we tend to struggle in Boston. Rumor has it that former Sen Brian McGrattan might be inserted into the lineup tonight, but it's just a rumor for now. If he is, look for potential fireworks with Neil after last weeks comments.

Local Flavor: Of course former Sen mentioned above in Brian McGrattan is a Bruin, but there is also former Senator Zdeno Chara, who will forever be in bad standing with many Sens fans. Also B's GM Peter Chiarelli is an Ottawa native. Though yet to play this year because of concussion problems, Marc Savard is also an Ottawa resident.

Prediction: The Sens played a horrible 2nd half on Thursday, so can they rebound tonight? To me, it doesn't look good against Boston in Boston, esepcially with perennial Sen killer Tim Thomas involved. For whatever reason the B's have our number and I don't see it changing tonight. B's win 4-2, though I'm slightly holding out hope for a Sens win. By the way, if you haven't seen this yet, watch it now, always makes me chuckle.

Thoughts on tonight's game?
