GDP #18: Sens @ Philly

The Sens are back at it tonight, after a day off, a great road win, and a few days of personal tragedy. No doubt the thoughts of many on the team will be with Luke Richardson and his family tonight, though perhaps they will rally around the cause and win one for them type of deal. One thing is for sure, the Flyers are a very good test for us, as they are one of the east's elite teams.

Coming off a 2-0 shutout win in Boston, Brian Elliott will be back in goal tonight. He has a promising history against the Flyers, with a perfect 4-0 record, with 2 shutouts, 0.84 goals against and an amazing .969 save %. Let's hope he can continue his strong play tonight. There are no other lineup changes tonight, as you can imagine, everyone was quite pleased with the game in Boston.

Elliott will have to be sharp with all the firepower that Philly has with Jeff Carter, Richards, Giroux, Briere, and all the rest. There was a reason they made the finals last year, and it wasn't luck.

Local Flavor: The Flyers are full of local connections. Always a super pest, Daniel Briere hails from Gatineau, while Sean O'Donnell is an Ottawa native, and Darroll Powe is from Kanata. Not to be forgotten is emerging star Claude Giroux, who used to play for Gatineau in the QMJHL.

Prediction: This one is really hard to predict for me. I can't decide if the Richardson tragedy will propel us to play great, or be a major distraction. Plus it doesn't help that we are playing one of the best teams in the NHL. I'm going to say they rally and win this for Luke and continue their strong play against Philly. Sens win 3-2.
