Satisfaction

Well that was good and bad wasn't it? The game started slow, taking us nearly 13 minutes to register a single shot, then we jumped out to a 3-0 lead before barely hanging on to win 3-2 at the ACC. There was good things and bad things to take away from this one, but in the end, at least we did get the much needed 2 points and the win, especially with Montreal losing.

Thoughts from the game:
  • Good to see Seregi Gonchar get his first goal as a Senator, it was the best game he's played for us so far.
  • Brian Elliott played well, gotta give him props.
  • The whole defense corps played pretty well too, but almost blew it.
  • I know there was no view of the puck in the net but it was in.
  • Regin and Foligno need to score.
  • Spezza needs to be yelled at, he can't take that lazy ass cross checking penalty.
  • The refs also need a scolding. The delay of game call that shouldn't have been was horrendous, especially after they huddled about it. Nearly cost us the game.
  • I have no clue why Carkner and Hale were on the ice with 45 seconds left but that is a coaching failure.
  • Phillips played a bit better tonight, which was good to see.
  • Gutsy of #11 to play.

All in all, it wasn't the best performance, but at the end of the day, we won and that's what we needed big time. Now if we can parlay this into a win against NYI on Thursday, things might be looking up for the Sens. It wasn't pretty, but results are all that matter, and we got the result tonight.

With the game winning goal and one assist, Erik Karlsson wins the night.

Thoughts on the game tonight?

Yeah, I couldn't see the last few seconds as there were a bunch of heads in the way. Haha, actually I stole your comment. I was like WTF sit down already. We're still sitting on the lead. I don't know, I still think Phillips is struggling. Spezza is invisible. Did he play? You never comment about Fisher. I thought he had a monster game. 1st star and he had the huge huge face off win at the end of the game. Not to mention his penalty shot goal. Really liking the Foligno, Fisher, Alfie line. Did I mention that Kovalev pass to no one. The stupid announcer kept calling Kovalev Kovalchuk and then was finally corrected.

Good point, Fisher did have a nice game actually tonight.

Potvin is horrible thats why he kept calling him kovalchuk.

Potvin is TERRIBLE!! sounds like he should be calling a ball game. Sportsnet needs to have better mics or something in the arenas, weeknight games in TO or OTT sound boring and very quiet. I know it gets pretty quiet in OTT sometimes, but on Sportsnet there is zero ambiance!

Although the Sens won I am getting really tired of their play. Every time, except maybe against Florida, that they take the lead by a couple of goals they get lazy, stop skating, sit back and get completely shelled for a period. I mean there has probably been 5 or 6 periods this season when they have been outshot by about 15 shots. I would like to see more hear and killer instinct otherwise this team is going absolutely nowhere.
