Jersey Foul 66

In honor of Douchebag Dany Heatley's departure from the playoffs in awesomely lame fashion. In case you didn't know he was in the penalty box when the winning goal was scored and he only had 2 goals in the playoffs and a measly 39 during the regular season. Sounds like a similarly diminished role as he had last year here doesn't it? Sadly this JF was spotted at a Sens playoff game this year. Yep that's right, some douche had the balls to wear a San Jose Heatley jersey to a Sens game. Luckily for him he was a kid or might have gotten ugly for him.

Brodeur Re-Upped

Journeyman goaltender Mike Brodeur was resigned to a one year, two way contract on Wednesday. He is likely to spend the year in Binghamton, splitting time with up and comer Robin Lehner in the minors. Of course we all remember him as the guy who went a perfect 3-0 in his starts and played pretty spectacularly for us in a time we really needed.

Remember How We Used To Win Stanley Cups, Now The Conference Finals Are Good Enough

Out-fucking-standing is all I have to say about the latest video from Down Goes Brown and Bloge Salming. I've long had a hate on for the cocky, obnoxious Habs fans and now I have a sountrack to my hate. Watch it, you will not be disappointed I promise. Enjoy!

In GREAT Company

Just came across an amazing stat while reading a recent TSN article about the Sens. It turns out that Alfie is only the 5th player in NHL history to average a point per game over the age of 37, with 71 points in 70 games this past season. The others you ask? Oh no one too big, just Joe Sakic, Adam Oates, Mario Lemeiux and Wayne Greztky. WOW!!!!!

The Legend grows yet again. Alfie is amazing.

Chi Town, What's Goin On Now

Congratulations goes out to the Mayors favorite childhood team, the Chicago Blackhawks (Jeremy Roenick) for sweeping the playoff choking San Jose Sharks yesterday in a big comeback to win 4-2. This is the Hawks first SCF since 1992, where they were promptly swept by Mario and the Penguins.

Making it extra awesome, was Dany Heatley's penalty in the 3rd put Chicago ahead and ended San Jose's once promising season yet again. Couldn't have ended any better if you ask me. Heatley finished with a mere 2 goals and was a minus 7 in the playoffs.

Only 50% Off, Really?

Not to bite from SNL's popular Really!?! segment with Seth Myers and Amy Poehler or anything, but really Shoppers Drugmart? You still have Dany Heatley Sens figures with him sporting uniforms we haven't worn in 3 years, really? What, no Brad Shaw's left, really? And why are they only 50% off? Like there are still a ton of Heatley fans still in Ottawa somehwere, but they're frugal or something, just waiting for the price to drop before they pounce and they buy up every single figure really? They should just melt these down and literally do anything with them. Anything would be more productive then paying hard earned money for anything with this jerks face on it. REALLY!!!!!!

Canada Out, No One Notices

Canada is out of the World Championships, after losing 5-2 to the Russians in the quarterfinals this afternoon. The real question is does anyone even care? I mean ya it's all good to cheer for your country and all, and I don't wish them any harm, but I barely even watched any of this tourney. The World Championships just don't do it for me. Am I the only one?

Keller Re-Upped

In minor Sens news, it was announced today that the Sens have resigned their AHL top goal scorer Ryan Keller to a new one year deal. In his first year with the Baby Sens, Keller was good for 34 and 34, good for 68 points, 2nd best on the team. This is just a depth move, don't look for him on the big club next year. The deal is a 2 way contract.

Complaints & Grievances: Pink Jerseys

Now I'm not Dennis Miller, so I don't wanna get off on a rant here, but what's the point of pink jerseys? I know they're supposed to appeal to women and try and get them involved, but isn't the whole point of supporting your team is to wear their ACTUAL colors?

The whole thing is pointless to me unless you're a girl under 10 years old and even then, their parents should know better and not start them down the path to lamesville. What's next, fancy dinners and wine instead of beer and overpriced hotdogs at games? Oh wait, but still, you see where I'm going with this I think. Chalk another one up to profit over respect I guess.

Now ladies, I'm not trying to dump on you here, it's not your fault, but if you want to be a respected member of Sens Army, lose the Pink and buy the Red.

Jersey Foul 65

Simple and elegant defines this one. This jersey looks like it's medium rare, the guy who thought this jersey was a good idea.....overcooked I'm sure, maybe even baked.

Regin Shines

Peter Jensen, errrrr regin continues his strong end of the season at the World Championships in Germany for Team Denmark. Here is a beauty of a goal he scored the other day. Regin is sure making a name for himself all of a sudden and has Sens Army drooling with possibilities. Nice goal rook, good luck the rest of the tournament.

Line Up Change

Just came across this while doing a lil spring cleaning. It's the lineup card from the first ever game against Montreal back on October 8th, 1992. Pretty cool. I wish the Sens would go back to this style of lineup so I actually have proper stats instead of what they do now. Just thought it was cool and some of my older nostalgic fans might wanna see it.

Happy Mother's Day

A special shoutout goes out to all the mothers today, especially all the one's who are Sens fans. Moms shape every child in the world and we can never say thank you enough, especially to my own mother, who has been nothing short of spectacular over the years to me and is a HUGE Sens fan. Without her, I probably wouldn't even be doing this blog, so shoutout to Momma Mayor on this special day.

Happy Mother's Day.

Ottawa Breathes Again

The City of Ottawa can once again breathe, as Daniel Alfredsson had successful surgery to repair his sports hernia he had been playing with. The surgery was Tuesday in Montreal and the recovery time is around 4 to 6 weeks, so it won't affect next season at all. Always good news when Alfie is healthy isn't it?

Bye Bye Hennessy

Sens forward Josh Hennessy has parted ways with the club and I'm sure the feeling was more then mutual. Josh signed a deal with Swiss League team Lugano. He came to the Sens in the Havlat deal and never lived up to his promise, spending most of his days in the AHL. This was a move a long time coming and will not affect things very much, but it is news, barely.

Jersey Foul 64

Seems a little pre-mature to me to get a jersey of a guy with 2 career NHL games, who was then a healthy scratch the rest of the year. But hey, anytime you can drop $200 on a a guy with zero career points who's destined to be a 3rd liner or an AHL'er, you gotta do it and early. At least we know who the president of the Ottawa chapter of the Bobby Butler fan club is.

Mailbag

So with it being pretty slow in Sens Town these days, I figured it was time for a mailbag. I know many of you have asked me all year to do one but I just didn't have the time. But now in the offseason I have nothing but time, so send me your questions. I'll do it Simmons style, so you can ask about tv shows, movies, pop culture, the NHL playoffs, the Sens and anything else you can think of. So send em in and you can have your question answered and be on the site. Send your questions to SensTown@gmail.com and I will post the answers later on this week.

Thanks and look forward to hearing what everyone has to say.

Coming To Ottawa?

The internet is blowing up with rumors that Sens prospect Andre Petersson has signed an entry level deal with Ottawa. It all started from a Swedish site article, but no official word from the Senators as of yet, I will keep you posted. If this is true, it's good news as he killed it at the World Jr's when I watched him play, though his size is definitely a problem.
