Sens toughguy defenceman Matt Carkner has had knee surgery this morning and is expected to be out a minimum of one month it has been revealed. It is the same knee that he injured last April. This is good news for David Rundblad, who will now be staying with the big club for the forseeable future.
I have to ask the question why he didn't have this surgery sooner to minimize the time missed. If it's the same knee as April, it obviously wasn't fully healed or never healed and he had been MIA most of camp. Surgery 2 weeks ago would have limited his absence for the regular season. Let's hope it isn't a Shaq type situation where he said I was hurt on company time so I'm going to heal on company time. Knowing what a standup guy Matt is I doubt it is.
Thoughts on the loss?
