GDP #10: Sens v Panthers

The Sens are back at it tonight at SBP, incredibly looking for their fourth straight win and looking to get to .500 on the season as they take on the new look Florida Panthers at 7:30pm. There were several changes made in the last day,s o lets get you caught up to speed on the news and show you the lines and pairings for the game tonight.

First up, Alfie will be back in the lineup tonight, after missing the one game with a hip flexor. Kaspars Daugavins, who played well in Carolina, will get at least one more game as an NHLer, as he is on the 4th line tonight. Craig Anderson starts against one of his former clubs, while the Panthers will counter with Jacob Markstrom.

The lines will be:
  • Greening-Spezza-Michalek
  • Foligno-Da Costa-Alfredsson
  • Condra-Smith-Neil
  • Winchester-Konopka-Daugavins
The defensive pairings will be:
  • Rundblad-Phillips
  • Gonchar-Cowen
  • Kuba-Karlsson
My first thoughts are wow those are some terrible lines, especially the #2. Definitely not up to par. There is no way a 2nd line should be a border line NHLer in Foligno and a rookie who hasn't shown us anything, along with the legendary Alfie of course. We basically have three 4th lines going.

Some pre game thoughts from MacLean, Foligno, Spezza, Alfie and DaCosta on facing Florida tonight.

Local Flavor: Ottawa native Erik Gudbranson was just told this morning he will be spending the year in the NHL, so he will be suiting up. So will Stittsville native and recent shit talker then apologizer Matt Bradley. Rounding things out are a pair of former Junior stars in the area in former 67 Brian Campbell and former Olympique Jose Theodore, who won't start tonight.

Prediction: The Panthers are no longer a joke after axquiring almost an entirely new team in the offseason and are coming off a 2-1 win in Montreal on Monday. The Sens are on a win streak but played and traveled, though it shouldn't be a factor. I'm very much on the fence about this one, but when we have a winning streak going I have to ride it. Sens win 3-2.

My record this season: 6-3 with no exact scored predicted

As always, I will be live tweeting and sharing pictures live from the action inside SBP so follow me on twitter @SensTown

hmmm, you are pretty harsh on our second line. I mean, you are right on all accounts, but in the context of a rebuilding team like ours, this seems like exactly the kind of 2nd line I would expect.

What else could our 2nd be?

i agree mostly. We have limited options with Zibby back to Sweden and regin out. I'd prob want to recall Filatov to be honest
