Shane Prince Player Diary Entry #2

This week before my games started on Friday, I just had a standard week hanging out with some of the guys and some friends. I went on a couple mall walks and enjoyed some time in the market downtown. Our team obviously also had practice every day with the playoffs coming up quickly.

This week was another tough week for our team. We finished the regular season with a 3 in 3 weekend all against teams in the top half of the eastern conference standings.

Friday night we played at home against the Sudbury Wolves. We headed into the 3rd period with a 3-1 lead and I had an assist on our fourth goal 2 minutes into the 3rd to make it 4-1. Sudbury answered back with a quick 3 goals to tie it at 4. The next shift I went end to end and scored a pretty goal for the team to take the lead back. We went on to win the game 6-4.

Saturday we headed to Niagara to play the Icedogs. They are the only team higher than us in the eastern conference standings and their rink might be the hardest rink to play in in the league. Since Niagara is so close to my home in Rochester, I had about 45-50 friends and family come to the game. Overall we just had a tough night and got shelled 7-3. We just didn't have our best game. I had an assist on our second goal.

Sunday was our last game of the regular season and we played in Brampton against a very defensive team. We had a real rough first 2 periods and we were losing 4-1 early in the third. Our team answered back with a quick 2 goals and I assisted on both of them but we weren't able to make the complete comeback. The game ended 4 to 3 in Brampton's favor. Our team played a great third period, which is a good way to head into playoffs. With those 2 assists I was able to crack 90 points on the season, which I was proud of considering I missed 12 games. I finished the season 4th in league scoring.

Now we get to look forward to starting the playoffs on Thursday night at home against Belleville. Hope to see a lot of you at the game to cheer us on. See you next week with entry #3.
