Shane Prince Player Diary Entry #3

Ice cream at The Cold Stone Cremery
This week was the first week of playoffs for us. So after 3 games in 3 days the previous weekend, our coach gave us the Monday off to rest and hang out a little bit.

On Monday the weather was beautiful and I realized I didn't have any shorts here in Ottawa, so I decided to go out and buy some with Marc Zanetti. We went downtown and walked around a bit and just enjoyed the nice weather and grabbed some lunch. I ended up buying my shorts at NRML, because that's where I buy 99 percent of my clothes.

Tuesday was another great day with great weather. I went to the gym with Zanetti and then ate some lunch before I headed off to practice. Things were getting really exciting around the room with the anticipation of our first playoff game on Thursday. After practice I ate dinner and then went to cold stone for some ice cream. I don't have much of a sweet tooth but I always enjoy a nice ice cream.

My new Jordan Stealth 10's
Wednesday was a low key day. I didn't want to do much because we play the next day. The only thing I really did was have practice with the team and get geared up for Thursday night puck drop.

We started off the playoffs with 2 games Thursday and Friday at home vs Belleville. We won both games but both of them were close. Thursday night we won 3-2 in overtime. Toffoli scored to win it. It was a great feeling to win game 1. Friday was a similar type of game and we were able to pull out the win 4-2. I had 2 assists in Thursday's game and topped Fridays game off with an empty netter.

The boys at our team dinner
Saturday was travel day to Belleville to make sure we got a good nights sleep before our 2 o'clock game in Belleville Sunday. Before we headed out on the road I picked up a new pair of Jordan's that I pre-ordered so all in all it was a great day. That night we had a team dinner and then went to bed.

Sunday's game was a tough one. Belleville's rink is pretty tough to play in, even though we had about a hundred 67s fans take a bus to the game to cheer us on. We started off strong but had a tough third. We headed into the third period with a 3-1 lead but the Bulls were able to tie the game up and we headed into overtime. Ten seconds into overtime we were scored on and lost the game 4-3. Even though we lost the game we still lead the series 2-1 and we head back to Belleville Tuesday for game 4. That will be a big game for us.

Sunday night we got back into Ottawa around 8 o'clock and I decided to go unwind and catch a movie with Zanetti and my friend Mully. We ended up seeing the highly regarded Hunger Games and it lived up to its expectations. After the movie I hit the sack and called it a week.

Hope to see some of you guys at our playoff games coming up. I'll check back in next Monday. Thanks for reading.
