Shane Prince Diary Entry #4

The Ottawa Sun the day after my hat trick in game 5

We headed into this week ahead in the series 2-1 after a tough overtime loss in Belleville on Sunday.

Monday was a laid back type of day because we had game 4 in Belleville the next night. We had a fairly hard practice just to get a sweat on and stay fresh for game 4. Other than that I didn't do much on Monday. I watched a lot of the tv series Breaking Bad at my billets house.


Tuesday the majority of the team gathered at Johnny Farinas around noon to grab a nice meal before the bus headed to Belleville at 2. Tuesday's game was a crazy game. We came out kind of flat and went down 2-0 early and ended giving up 1 more with 10 min left in the third but then we found a spark. Toffoli started a 3 goal comeback on the power play and Cardwell finished the comeback with 1 minute left in regulation. It was crazy. Unfortunately we lost 13 minutes into overtime but at least we showed a lot of fight to be able to come back. I had 1 assist. After the game we drove back to Ottawa.

Wednesday was a day off for us, so a few of us went for a mall walk and then I finished up season 2 of Breaking Bad and relaxed the rest of the day. Rest is important during playoffs that's for sure.

Thursday we got back on the ice and had a great practice. Things were getting real intense due to the anticipation of Friday nights game 5 which was a huge game for the series.

Friday morning we had a light morning skate to get out of bed and get a light sweat on. After the morning skate all of the boys went to Local  Heroes for a team breakfast and then I headed home for my gameday routine. I took my pre game nap and then I woke up and ate my pre game meal before i headed to the rink.

Things were exciting around the rink. Not only was it a huge game for the series but, it was also a SportsNet game that was nationally televised. We had a great game. The whole team played well and we really came together as a team. We won the game 5-2 and took a 3-2 series lead. The fans and atmosphere in our rink for this game was unbelievable. I had 3 goals in this one. After the game a lot of the guys went to Johnny Farina's for a nice post game meal.

Our next game isn't until tonight, so Saturday we had the day off and I went to Nrml and bought a new t-shirt and hung out with some of the guys the rest of the day. Sunday was a practice day to get ready for game 6 tonight in Belleville. We lead the series 3-2 and we can finish it off tonight.
