Silfverberg's Brynas Win Swedish Title, Named Playoff MVP, Joining Sens For Saturday?

Ottawa Senators highly touted prospect Jakob Silfverberg completed the dream season today with his Brynas team winning the Swedish Elite League Championship four games to two. Silfverberg, who was already named the regular season MVP, added some silfverware to his trophy case, winning the playoff MVP as well. The Brynas captain, who interestingly enough wears #100 as his jersey number in honor of the clubs 100th year anniversary, is expected to come to North America to join the Senators playoff run with his season now done in Europe.

There's some hope he may be able to play Saturday at Madison Square Garden for Game 5, but I'd put that at 50/50, given the time change and celebratory obligations he must deal with. The more realistic date for him to suit up will be game 6 back here in Ottawa for his NHL debut, but let's hope he plays Saturday, as a talent like him would definitely boost our chances of upsetting New York. Silfverberg also broke the record for most goals in the playoffs with 13 in just 17 games, besting the previous record holder, the one and only Daniel Alfredsson. To top off his ridiculous year, he scored the championship clinching goal as well.

Thoughts on Silfverberg joining the Senators? Do you think it will be Saturday or game 6?

I'm not convinced he'll get any playing time.

Are you kidding me? I bet you haven't seen Silfverberg play! Even 'IF' Alfie is back and healthy, he'll play and he'll score the game winning goal game 6 in OT.

I think he wants to celebrate with the team on the official celebration in Gävle on saturday, after that there are world chapions in Sweden, so I am not to sure he wnats to go. He will be a star in the national team on home soil, but maybe not get much time in ice if he does not adapt to small rinks at notime...
