Pageau Inks ELC

Former Gatineau star Jean-Gabriel Pageau is the latest Sens prospect to ink an entry level contract with the big club, signing yesterday to a 3 year rookie deal. Pageau, who was the Sens 4th rounder last year at 96th overall, is a gifted offensive talent but at just 5'6 and 163lbs will face a massive climb to be a contributor at the NHL level. The Senators hope he shows them enough to play in the AHL next season but he has the option to play as an over ager in the QMJHL should he need to.

I've seen him play several times and I see no reason to put him back in the Q as it would do little to none to help with his development. He needs to play against better competition and see if he can handle the upgrade in talent and physicality in my opinion. Here's wishing him luck.

With the signing it leaves friend of the blog Shane Prince as the only Sens prospect in need of an ELC heading into the offseason. Hopefully it gets done soon and we have the full roster of talent at our disposal. Congrats to JG Pageau on the new deal.
