Sens Take Ottawa Native Ceci At #15

Heading into the draft tonight, Cody Ceci was excited to be picked and fulfil his longtime dream of playing in the NHL. He and his large family contingent hoped that he would be picked by his hometown Senators but knew it a lot had to come into play for that to happen. And suddenly 2 hours into the draft the Sens were on the clock. He had to be tense and nervous but what a feeling it must have been to have been drafted by your own city's NHL team.

Ceci, who was a standout defenceman for the Ottawa 67's, was the Sens first round pick selection tonight at number 15 overall. Ceci, an Orleans native, lead all Junior defenceman with 60 points this season and has a ton of upside. At 6'3 and 200lbs with a ton of skill, Ceci figures to be a fixture on the Sens blueline for a long time to come. He has good feet, a killer slapshot and will be very motivated playing at home.

Ceci becomes the 4th Ottawa 67's player to be drafted by the Sens. The other 3 were Colbert in 2003, Cowick in 2009 and Shane Prince in 2011. The latest Senators prospect is on twitter so give him a follow and welcome him to the organization @Cecer_83

Here's the video of how it all went down tonight in Pittsburgh in case you missed it or just want to re-live it again. Could his massive entourage look any happier? Congratulations to the entire Ceci clan.

Thoughts on the pick?
