Neil Signs 3 Year Extension With Ottawa

Physical presence and fan favorite Chris Neil has signed a 3 year extension with the only club he's ever known in a story broken by Don Brennan just moments ago. The deal will play him 5.75 million over 3 seasons, or 1.916 per year, a slight decrease from the 2 million a year he's been making. With the 3 year extension, Neil will remain in Ottawa for at least the next 4 years.

The Sens all time leader in PIMs had a solid season last year, putting up 28 points in 72 games while being the usual disruptive presence he is for the opponent whenever he's on the ice. He followed that up with an OT winning goal in game 2 of the playoffs against the Rangers in NYC. Neil is also one of only 4 players remaining from the Stanley Cup finals team of 2007.

A core guy who's important to the team locked up at a reasonable number equals a good signing. Excellent job Mr Murray and glad to have Neil back in the fold for another 4 years.

Thoughts on the extension?
