Lundin, Gonchar Ready To Go

The Sens got some good news on the injury front today, as it was revealed by Coach Paul MacLean that Sergei Gonchar will play tomorrow against Carolina after missing a few games, and that defenceman Mike Lundin is now healthy enough to play and should make his Sens debut in the near future.

So what that means for the present is that the Sens will be carrying 8 defencemen, which is a rarity in the NHL of course. The likely sacrifice is rumored to be Boroweicki, but I've enjoyed his play thus far and we need his physical presence. It's hard to fault any of the newcomers on the backend for poor play this year, as all 3 have exceeded expectations so far. If it was up to me, unless Lundin blew me away in a couple games I'd be tempted to keep the backend as status quo

That of course isn't realistic, as that would be based strictly on play, and not taking into consideration contratcts, which is a massive factor for any club. And guess what? Lundin has a one way deal at 1.15 million, while Boro, Wiercioch and Benoit all have 2 way deals. So looks like Lundin is likely to stay. It should be noted that while Lundin has yet to suit up for the Sens, he was playing during the lockout in Sweden, so he isn't completely rusty. Who would you keep/send down?
