Kovalev Calls It Quits

It was a strange ride with Alexei Kovalev for parts of 2 seasons as a member of the Senators wasn't it? He has to be one of the most frustrating players of all time. You could see what tremendous once in a decade type skill he was blessed with, but the work ethic/effort just didn't seem to be there consistently. He leaves the game as a potential hall of famer, despite the enigmatic character he will likely be remember as. He retires with 1029 career points, that includes the 76 he scored in the 131 games he suited up for as a Senator. If you recall, he scored his 1000th point as a member of the Sens so there's that. Despite all his shortcomings, he is very well liked by most of his former teammates. Good luck to AK27 in whatever he chooses to do from now on.
