"We Can Beat These Guys. We're Better" - PK Subban

Never one without a flare for attention grabbing, PK Subban has once again made himsel the topic of discussion with that Senator motivating qoute in the title. Heading into the series, I wasn't quite sure where all the hate for this guy was coming from. Sure he was flashy, but so is Erik Karlsson. But now 4 games into the series between Ottawa and Montreal, I get it.

It isn't his skin color, or even his play, which can be spectcular at times and is why he was named a Norris finalist on Tuesday, but it's actually his attitude and overall disposition that seems to rub almost everyone who comes in contact with him the wrong way. Even worse, he doesn't seem to either notice it or care. Either way it's not a good look.

He routinely yells at teammates for mistakes, then takes 3 penalties in the game. He scores a goal to make it 1-0 in the 2nd period and acts like he scored the game 7 OT winner. He gets frustrated at the outcome of the game and picks on Kyle Turris for a fight, then proceeds to continue throwing shots when Turris was on his back on the ice. He decides to not speak with the media on Tuesday after being named a finalist for the Norris, making his teammates have to answer questions about him instead, and this is just from 4 games this series. I could go on and on, but that would be beating a dead horse.

The point is he's an ego maniac that needs constant attention, but refuses to see any of his own faults. As the series has gone on, I've been watching how the other Canadien players react to him, and to me, it sure looks like they're sick of him and his antics. And let's be honest, who can blame them.

This quote about them being better is a prime example. I'm sure the whole team believes it, but why say it publicly to give the Senators motivation in an elimination game? He just doesn't seem to get it. Maybe it will finally sink in when his season is ended on Thursday night. But probably not.
